:It has been a while since I had been to the drag strip and I finally decided to turn up the boost to 20-21PSI and see what the car can do. I never really tuned it since I rebuilt the engine late last year after finding low compression in cyl 6 due to slightly leaky valve/seat. :I had tuned the car just before Hallett on 93 octane @ 14.5PSI, but I decided I needed race gas for 20-21PSI. I tuned the car on 105 octane gas last Saturday on the street with Rodel's help (he drove I tuned). At the track I was running 110 octane because that was what they had. :On my 2nd run I got a 11.7 @ 120 with a 1.8 60ft: : :I thought that was not too shabby, with a better launch the car *may* be able to get down to a 11.5, which was about what I was hoping for given my turbos/setup. So I got Sean (tt.net member "sfarrah") to drive my car, he is the better driver and I was hoping he'll get a 1.6 60ft, but this was what he got on his 2nd run: : :!!! 1.46 60ft !!! I must suck real bad at drag racing :) This must be some sort of record for a Z32 M/T no-NOS ET Street setup... :That was all the more impressive because this was how the car was setup: :MT ET Street (yup not slicks) 26x10.5-16 on stock 16" rears and 13 psi tire pressure :-2deg rear camber (was setup for road race) and all stock rear suspension arms :SPL subframe collars, Nismo diff bushings, SPL urethane tranny mount, Noltec urethane motor mount :Tomei LSD :Not exactly an all out drag racing setup, the only thing I had really different was the LSD. I guess that finally paid off :) :A video of my 11.7 run: :[ www.splparts.com/Events/SAR0505/kuah.mpg ] :Sean's 11.3 run in my Z: :[ www.splparts.com/Events/SAR0505/sean.mpg ] :I am thinking I should bump the boost up to 24PSI, tune it on C16, get my "in the works" SPL reinforced and solid bushing rear subframe/multilink on, get the launch control option on my Motec and see how close to 10s we can get on these "smallish" turbos :) :Rodel was also out with us with his Sport 500 setup, he was trying to get the car into the 11s but was just a little short, he ran several 12.1 passes. He was running race gas but standard JWT timing, so a little timing advance should easily get him into the 11s. A video of one of his 12.1 runs: :[ www.splparts.com/Events/SAR0505/rodel.mpg ] :It was a pretty fun night out, I guess I'll have to do this a little more in the future :)
